How to Install Headlight Bulbs on an Audi A4

1. Open the front hood. Locate the tops of the headlights in the engine bay. Depending on the model year, you may or may not need to remove the headlight itself to access the bulb. See how much clearance there is behind the headlight. If you can reach down and pull the bulb out, there is no need to remove the headlight.
2. Remove the two T25 screw bolts at the top of the headlight housing that hold the housing on. Use the appropriate star-shaped bit to remove these bolts.
3. Loosen the two T25 Torx screws at the lower back part of the headlight housing. These do not need to be removed. Slide the headlight forward so you can reach the back of the housing, where the bulb is installed.
4. Disconnect the wiring harness socket that goes to the headlight bulb by pulling it gently but firmly straight back. Squeeze the metal clips that hold the socket in place to open the clips. This should allow you to pull out the socket.
5. Turn the headlight bulb until the tabs on it line up with the slots on the socket, then remove the bulb. Install the new bulb by sliding it into the socket and turning it.
6. Close the metal clip over the bulb socket. Reconnect the wiring harness to the socket. If you unbolted the headlight to reach the bulbs, slide it back in place and install the top bolts. Tighten the bolts on the back of the housing. Close the hood. Turn the key to the on position, then turn on the headlights to make sure theyre working.

How to Install Magnum Headlight Bulbs

1. Open the hood to access the Magnums engine compartment. Inspect the area behind the drivers side headlight case to find the black air filter box.
2. Remove the screw on the hose clamp on the rear side of the air filter box. This clamp connects the air filter hose to the air filter box. Pull the hose away from the box.
3. Push down on the tabs along the edge of the air filter box lid. This frees up the cover. Lift the cover and the air filter inside the box.
4. Remove the two bolts securing the air filter box to the Magnum. Lift the air filter box out and move it to the side. This gives you enough room to install the headlight bulbs on the drivers side.
5. Locate the headlight bulb you need to replace on the back of the headlight case. The bulb closest to the center of the grille is the low-beam bulb. The outboard bulb is the high-beam bulb.
6. Unplug the electrical harness from the back of the appropriate bulb socket. Twist the socket counterclockwise to release it from the case then pull it straight back. Dispose of the old bulb.
7. Insert the replacement bulb into the holder and turn it clockwise to lock it in place. Plug the electrical harness into the new bulb.
8. Position the bottom half of the air filter box back into place. Insert and tighten the two bolts.
9. Lay the air filter inside the box. Replace the cover and push up the tabs to lock the cover in place.
10. Attach the hose to the air filter box. Tighten the hose clamp screw with the screwdriver then close the hood.
